Quote from Graeme's e-mail:
"The spearhead is Mid Bronze Age and was around 21 inches deep in a small pasture field
near Ottery St Mary, East Devon . The area had been searched by other detectorists in the
past. My detecting friend and I had searched there the week before and found nothing; in
fact we only had a couple of signals all day which made me return with the Nexus. Within an
hour I had a good signal which yielded me the spearhead. I have found several other
Bronze Age artefacts within a mile of this area but not so deep and using another machine.
Graeme Smith from the East Devon metal detecting club in the United Kingdom have made
some extraordinary finds with his Nexus detector.
Above is a display of the finds he has made.
George III Gold Guinea dated 1777
found in a field just outside the village
of Aylesbeare in Devon at a depth of six
inches on the 8th of June 2008.
I recently got permission to search new farmland which contained a Bronze Age Settlement and which I believe is
connected to my finds. However, I have to wait until the crops are harvested before searching and am optimistic
of some great finds using the Nexus.
The spearhead won May’s May's Find of The Month Competition at a meeting of the East Devon Metal
Detecting Club."
