How deep can Nexus find buried or lost targets?
The depth at which the Nexus metal detector will detect various in shape, size and weight targets will depend on different conditions as it is with all other metal
detectors. However complicated the answer to this questions might be we can still provide you with some basic information of what the Nexus can do in this
regard.
EXAMPLES: Roman sestertsi, Victorian penny (size 30mm average) or any other coin with this size, buried 14"(36 cm) under compact undisturbed normal soil is
easy to detect at minimum Gain (sensitivity) setting with the 9" search coil. A Hoard of coins (1 kg.) buried at 24" depth in normal compact and undisturbed soil
is easy to find with the 20" Nexus Ultima search coil.
Why are the Nexus coils made in the OO number 8 shape?
This shape was chosen for only one reason: EFFICIENCY. After years of experimentation we came to a practical conclusion, confirmed by the laws of physics
that there can be no more efficient search coil assembly than one made out of circular loops. The result of overlapping two circular loops was the figure of 8
shape.
What is the advantage of search coils tuned in full electro-magnetic resonance?
A search coil tuned in full resonance will be in average 100 times more sensitive compared with one not tuned at all. For this reason the Nexus search coils are
tuned in full resonance within 99% tolerance. The imperfections of search coils not tuned in resonance are not possible to compensate by any electronic circuit.
Can different coil sizes and frequency settings be made?
Search coils with various sizes and frequency settings other than the mentioned in the products pages can be made only by customers order and at additional
cost subject to separate agreement.
What kind of targets can the Nexus metal detectors find?
The Nexus metal detectors are fully capable to find targets of any size and composition. Nexus can detect any size coins at depth greater than any other known
detector has achieved so far.
.
What is the waiting time after ordering a Nexus?
After full advanced payment has been made the ordered unit(s) can be supplied in period from 1 to 4 weeks, subject to materials availability and customers
order waiting list.
Can the Nexus metal detectors work on the beach?
Yes they can. The beach settings are explained in the online User Manual for each model.
Is there a metal detector from the Nexus range suitable for hunting gold nuggets?
All Nexus detectors are suitable for hunting gold nuggets if they are equipped with search coil from the Gold range (SE Gold, Ultima Gold, Coronado Gold).
Can the Nexus metal detectors work in highly mineralized soil conditions?
Yes. The most difficult conditions for any metal detector is considered the black sand beaches in the USA. To our knowledge Nexus metal detectors are only
existing metal detectors capable to work on the black sand, which will suggest that they will work in almost any severe mineralised conditions around the world.
What about rechargeable batteries and rechargers?
A 2200 mA battery pack is available and suitable for all Nexus detectors. Supplied free for Nexus Standard SE and Nexus Ultima and can be purchased
separately for other models.
Nexus detectors have changed from 10 to 8 AA batteries, why?
Using 8 AA batteries allows the user to choose to use either 8 single batteries or a rechargeable pack.
Will my detector be set up to use any of the accessory search coils at any frequency?
Your metal detector model will be set to use any of the accessory search coils at any frequency for that specific model.
Can Nexus metal detectors work in contaminated areas?
Yes, for contaminated inland site search, we recommend the use of a smaller 6 inch or 4 inch search coil.
Which search coil frequency should I choose for my Nexus metal detector?
The search coils section of each metal detector model has a detailed explanation of what each coil tuned at a certain frequency would be recommended for.
What is the difference between induction balance and pulse induction metal detectors?
Our Science page has a comprehensive article explaining in detail the advantages of induction balance technology to pulse induction metal detectors.
Can my Nexus metal detector work in wet conditions?
The search coils of all Nexus metal detectors are environmentally sealed and can be used on wet sand or ground, the control box and battery box should be
protected.
