MP V3 beach settings
MP V3 beach settings
For salt water beaches, the MP V2 is recommended because it utilizes iron rejection which rejects signals from salt water.
Users who choose to use the MP V3 on the beach can do so as follows:
1. Ground Balance on average normal position.
2. Turn on the VCO.
3. Set the Threshold to audible level loud enough to hear it comfortably.
4. Move the coil up and down above salty wet sand. While doing so, turn slowly the discrimination control clockwise up to a position where the salt water doesn't cause frequency tone changes, but sounds only as middle tone.
5. Then turn the Threshold level to normal for your use.
With these settings the V3 can be used on salt water beaches, but the salt water will be picked up as middle tone constantly.
Alternatively:
Ground balance above the salt water. If you do so, the discrimination order will be reversed, and some adjustment will be needed to get the non-ferrous targets to sound as high tone.
Also, all non-ferrous targets will produce inverted tones where all iron, regardless of shape and size will produce normal straight tones in the middle of the coil.
