MP V3+ Beach Settings
Follow these steps for the best possible metal detecting depth on the beach:
Complete the initial detector set-up.
Turn on the Iron Rejection.
Set the ground balance to 0.
Raise and lower the the search coil above the salt water or wet sand and begin turning the Discrimination knob from 0 to clockwise, very slowly until the salt water signal sounds become small clicks.
If the beach contains a considerable amount of mineral interference such as hot rocks, coke, black sand, then some Mineral Control have to be applied using the following procedure:
Start on an area of the beach where the sand is a few meters away from the tidal line and it is not very wet.
Lay down some of the mineral samples and perform standard Ground Balance over them.
If the standard GB does not eliminate the mineral signals, then apply some Mineral Control, first the Coarse control and if the interference is too strong, turn the mineral control toggle switch to position Heavy.
Further suppression of the minerals can be applied by tuning the Coarse and Fine controls to a greater number.
Be mindful that if both rotary knobs are at position 10 and Heavy is set on the toggle switch, that will cause the detector to lose most of it's sensitivity and only shallow targets will be detected.
