Target depth determination & comparison

When determining the depth at which a metal detector can find a specific object, generalizing such as "gold ring" or "silver coin" or even the amount of karats can not provide an accurate depth figure.
The weight, size / thickness and conductivity plays an important role when determining and comparing depth.
